Band Bio:
The Indiana Boys started out life in 2004 as a rotating ensemble of musicians, centered around singer-songwriter and guitarist, Dick Gist. The band evolved through various permutations, finally crystallizing around Dick and a talented young vocalist and songwriter named Kenan Rainwater. With Dick's encouragement, the two slowly assembled a body of original music that they would perform with regular help from bassist Dan Bilger and mandolin virtuoso Barry Todd.
Kenan began pestering his long-time friend, banjo player Joe Bolinger, to open Pandora's box and let him perform some of the original songs that Joe had written over the years and had stored in various (literal) shoe boxes in his house. This lead to Joe eventually joining the band as a songwriter, banjo player, and occasional backup vocalist.
Finally, with this core group of Dick, Kenan, Joe, Barry, and Dan, the band felt complete.
Two thousand twelve was a great year for the Indiana Boys, having the opportunity to share the stage with the likes of Reverend Peytons Big Damn Band, Traveln' McCourys, Tim Grimm, Jason Wilbur, Rascal Flats & Little Big Town! They made their first appearance at the Indiana State Fair, Klipsch Music Center, & the John Hartford Memorial Festival! The year brought two albums (Muddy Boots & October Nights).
The 2012 Brown County Music Awards were a clean sweep by the Indiana Boys, they took home the trophy in every category they were nominated. Winning in the categories of, Best New Group, Best Group, Best Song (Concrete Town), Best Album (Muddy Boots), Best New Musician (Kenan Rainwater), and Best Musician (Dan Bilger).
2013 brought great things for the Indiana Boys, a 3rd self-produced album, a spot at the Indiana State Fair once again, playing with Tim Grimm & Jason Wilber, the Not Too Bad Bluegrass Band, Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band, and much more.
2014 the Indiana Boys played 104 shows. Thats 2 shows a week! Picker Dan decided he didn't need to play as often as he was being asked; and therefore decided to leave the IBs'. The Boys decided not to fill the void and play without a bass player the majority of 2015, but always allowing the opportunity for Dan or other bass players to sit in on occasion, most frequently Brian Chomka (New Old Cavalry). Barry played less and less with the Boys throughout 2014 & 2015, he is so busy playing with other groups its hard to line up the schedules.
In 2015 the IBs' releases "Live-Volume One". 14 tracks of all original music, from 8 different live shows! A hot seller a the merch table!
