Flight Time
Words and Music by Kenan Rainwater
I’d sit at the base of this mountain
I’d wait at the foot of this tree
If I thought you could come back to me
I’d swim this river til it runs dry
I’d sprout wings and search the sky
For my efforts I'd get wet then dry
I would dig a hole to China
Just to find ya
But you’re gone, gone, gone
Like a spirit that never was here
You’re a ghost I fear
No you never were here
This is one mountain I won’t climb
And I’ll never swim this river dry
If I sprout wings I might still fly
But I won't waste my flight time on you
You know there are some horses you’re meant to ride
Others you turn to pasture
But sometimes you’ve just got to put one down
And make a clean break
This is one mountain I won’t climb
And Ill never swim this river dry
If I sprout wings I might still fly
But I wont waste my flight time on you
And I wont waste this lifetime on you
I’d wait at the foot of this tree
If I thought you could come back to me
I’d swim this river til it runs dry
I’d sprout wings and search the sky
For my efforts I'd get wet then dry
I would dig a hole to China
Just to find ya
But you’re gone, gone, gone
Like a spirit that never was here
You’re a ghost I fear
No you never were here
This is one mountain I won’t climb
And I’ll never swim this river dry
If I sprout wings I might still fly
But I won't waste my flight time on you
You know there are some horses you’re meant to ride
Others you turn to pasture
But sometimes you’ve just got to put one down
And make a clean break
This is one mountain I won’t climb
And Ill never swim this river dry
If I sprout wings I might still fly
But I wont waste my flight time on you
And I wont waste this lifetime on you
